Underneath The Frock
How to measure your bra size
It is important that you
measure your chest complete with your prosthesis to ensure you get the correct bra size.
You need your bra to fit you snugly and to be strong enough to hold your prosthesis in
place through the evening.
So to start with
temporarily affix your prosthesis to your chest,
(preferably in the right position around the front).
The industry has designated
the sizes of bra's as follows:-

So Let's Measure:-
Firstly measure your rib cage underneath
the prosthesis,
(call this measurement a).
If measurement (a) is even number then
add 4",
if it is odd number then add 5".
For example: If the
measurement (a) is 39"
- then add 5" and your bra size is a 44".
If measurement (a) is
42"
- then add 4" and your bra size is a 46".
Use the table below to
determine your bra size.

The difference between the bra
measurement
and the cup measurement identifies the cup size.
Temporarily attach your
prosthesis to your chest.
Measure over the fullest part of the prosthesis.
Subtract the bra size you calculated in the previous paragraph.
Your chest measurement was 38", an even number so you added 4" and that gave you
a bra size of 42".
The measurement around you and your prosthesis was 46".
So take the first measurement from the second measurement 46" minus 42", this
leaves a difference of 4. So from the table below we see we need a bra with a DD cup.
The bra we need to buy is a 42DD - simple!
